Welcome to our home
With a love of food and wine, gardening and farming and coming from a hospitality background, it is not surprising that we always had the dream to start a small boutique hotel, garden restaurant or bed and breakfast.
When buying our new home in Oost, West, Middelbeers, the picture of our future bed and breakfast was already quite clear. We fell in love with the surroundings, with the original stained glass windows, and the view.
Renovating the “old house”, as we call it, started just a few months after moving in. Our goal was to be CO2 neutral and as environmentally friendly as possible. Although we have made a few tradeoffs and still have a few items on our wish list, our energy rating of A+ is acceptable for now. Have any ideas on how we can reduce our footprint even further? Please let us know.
We are not interior designers, but come from the angle of light, space, function and atmosphere. Our goal was to create a home that you feel comfortable in, with everything you need at hand to relax and enjoy your stay.
When we are not working, you will probably find us puttering around outside.
Working in the greenhouse where we are trying to grow our own less common range of vegetables, herbs and flowers. Running after the rabbits and chickens when trying to get them back in their pen. Perhaps working on the next addition to De Keizer.
History of Hotel De Keizer
We named our bed & breakfast after Hotel De Keizer which was run in the 1950’s in Venray by Jasper’s grandfather. Hotel “De Keizer” was a family run hotel and café known for relaxed atmosphere and hospitality. We have incorporated some of this history and a few oiriginal pieces that have been kept by the family.
